Hello.
IBM System Storage DS4700 Express Storage Subsystem: Installation, User’s and Maintenance Guide Safety The caution and danger statements that this document contains can be referenced in the multilingual IBM® Safety Information document that is provided with your IBM System Storage™ DS4700 Express Storage Subsystem.
I have recently bought an used IBM DS4700, on ebay from a reseller.
The reseller couldnt remember the Password for the Storage Manager - which is giving me some problems now...
I need to get inside the DS4700, and since i dont have any data on it - then i dont mind wiping it all.
I have tried the following:
Connect a serial cable to the DS4700, which gave me alot of outputs - but i couldent type any input to the Serial connection.
I used this guide for it - and used baud rate at 38200.
My cable is not an original IBM cable, but an old 3Com cable which should be the same?
When this didnt work, i pulled out both controllers - and took out the batteries from the controllers.
After 20-24 hours, i then pulled out all the disks - and inserted one of the controllers again.
When connecting to the the DS4700 from the Storage manager this time, i got in (no password) - but when trying to set a new password i got an error 101 and 107 (no communication to the DS4700 - and there was no disk in it).
When i then inserted one of the disks again, the old config with the password was loaded :(
I really hope you will be able to help me reset this SAN, because it seems like an lovely one :)
And again... if all the data has to be wiped, then fine by me :)
